James D. Elam is presently an Attorney with Bluegrass Land Title, LLC. He has practiced real estate law with emphasis on loan closings for a period 40 years as a member of the Law Firm of Elam and Miller, PSC. In 2004, he became affiliated with First American Title Insurance Company through acquisition. He remained affiliated with First American through various business entities and most recently Bluegrass Land Title. Mr. Elam received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky College of Law and a combined degree from Eastern Kentucky University in business administration. He has extensive experience in real estate law and courtroom litigation and has served as a member of the board of directors of the Fayette County Bar Association. He has participated in numerous seminars including various compliance seminars with HUD approved instructors for the continuing legal education of Mortgage Brokers in Kentucky and most recently served as an instructor at the University of Kentucky College of Law in the Biennial case law and legislative update in real estate law. He is a co-author in the three volume set of Kentucky Real Estate Law and practice produced by the University of Kentucky. Mr. Elam is a member of the American, Kentucky and Fayette County Bar Associations. He is an associate member of the Lexington Board of Realtors and the Homebuilders Association of Lexington.
